A settlement has been reached in a lawsuit filed by a Waynesboro couple against the University of Virginia Medical Center in connection with injuries suffered by their son at birth.
David and Elizabeth Morris, whose son Hunter suffers from brain damage and cerebral palsy, accused doctors at the hospital of failing to respond adequately to complications during the 2001 birth of their son. As part of the settlement reached, the Morrises will receive $1.35 million, most of which will go towards paying an estimated $9 million in healthcare that Hunter will need over the rest of his life.
